Year 4
Good morning Year 4,
We hope you had a good week last week and enjoyed completing some of the activities on the PowerPoint/workbook.
We had a great time on the Zoom calls last week. Thank you to everyone who joined us. We had book reviews and science experiments along with gardening updates and one or two pets. Not to mention other family members ready to join in too. Many of you shared your extinct or endangered posters, along with the French menus and postcards. Your enthusiasm makes the calls such fun. We never know what we are going to hear about or see next.
Our meetings this week will be Tuesday and Thursday at 10 and 10:30 again. Remember to sign up at any time within the half hour slots but join the calls on the times above. We will always let you in to join the call at any time though, so don’t worry if you are not on time. These will be our last calls before the summer break so we aim to make them even more fun.
In the maths workbook this week you will find some revision slides which focus on converting units of measure as well as using place value. The main focus this week is on position and direction. This is a great subject with many fun activities. We have even included a game at the end.
This week we have assigned two MyMaths lessons on coordinates. Work through each lesson and then compete the homework activity.
Please remember to continue with your TTR Stars too.
The main workbook starts with a grammar review before moving on to another extract from Cliffhanger and a postcard.
The science is looking at classification and there is some creative work on money for you to explore. The final slides encourage you to look ahead to September.
This week we have included a workbook on water safety. There are some fun activities for you to look at, including the opportunity to make a poster and/or a game.
In French you will continue to learn about food. We know you enjoy word searches and there is an opportunity to tell us which foods you like and dislike.
Remember to visit BugClub and choose two more books to look at this week. There is a great selection of fiction and non-fiction so we are sure you will be able to find something you enjoy.
As always, we want you to have fun with your learning. Don’t feel overwhelmed with the activities on offer. We have included a wide variety so you can choose to do what you feel most interested in. Try to have a mixture of English, maths, topic and creative work throughout the week. It is also very important to find time to relax, exercise and be outside. Remember to try to stick to a routine in order to help to structure your week.
Thank you so much for all your hard work and enthusiasm. You should be so proud of yourselves with all the hard work and resourcefulness you have shown during this unusual time.
Please continue to share your work with us by emailing: Year4@whitegroveprimary.co.uk
With best wishes for a great week’s learning.
